Founded in 1880 as a small machinery servicing company, the enterprise was converted into a weaving machine manufacturer by Michel Van de Wiele in 1921. Since then, thanks to a combination of investments in own machinery and establishments and acquisitions, the company has developed into an international group with production and service centers worldwide.
Vandewiele imagines, builds and integrates innovative textile systems for flooring qualities, home linen, fashion fabrics, and technical textiles.
To do so, an experienced design team consisting of highly competent technology experts within motor design, motor control, power electronics, embedded systems and mechatronics, and also multi-diciplinary skilled application engineers are following projects from concept stage to production.

Opgericht in 1880 als een klein bedrijf voor machineonderhoud, werd de onderneming in 1921 door Michel Van de Wiele omgevormd tot een fabrikant van weefmachines. Sindsdien is het bedrijf, dankzij investeringen in eigen machines en vestigingen en via overnames, uitgegroeid tot een internationale groep met productie- en servicecentra over de hele wereld.
Vandewiele ontwerpt, bouwt en integreert innovatieve textielsystemen voor vloerbedekking, huishoudlinnen, modieuze stoffen en technische textielen.
Daarvoor werkt een ervaren ontwerpteam, bestaande uit hooggekwalificeerde technologie-experts op het gebied van motordesign, motorsturing, vermogenselektronica, embedded systems en mechatronica. Daarnaast begeleiden multidisciplinair geschoolde toepassingsingenieurs de projecten van concept tot productie.

SPIE’s proficiency proved vital in addressing Vandewiele Group's fire detection challenges. The Group’s legacy systems, based on FalconNet fire panels, became increasingly problematic following the discontinuation of their production and service parts. SPIE, as a BOSEC-certified installer, stepped in to deliver an efficient solution by replacing the outdated panels with Hochiki Latitude panels, all while retaining the existing sensors, sirens, and manual call points. This approach minimized costs and saved time, allowing uninterrupted daily operations while leveraging the initial investment.
The project encompassed the installation of 7 Hochiki Latitude panels, seamlessly integrated with the GEMOS Physical Security Management System. This integration provides a detailed graphical overview of the sites and facilitates quick responses to detected incidents.

De expertise van SPIE bleek van cruciaal belang bij het aanpakken van de branddetectie-uitdagingen binnen de Vandewiele Group. De bestaande systemen, gebaseerd op FalconNet-brandcentrales, vormden een toenemend probleem sinds de productie en bijhorende serviceonderdelen stopgezet werden. SPIE, als BOSEC-gecertificeerde installateur, bood een efficiënte oplossing door de verouderde centrales te vervangen door Hochiki Latitude-panelen, terwijl de bestaande detectoren, sirenes en handmelders behouden bleven. Deze aanpak beperkte de kosten en bespaarde tijd, waardoor de dagelijkse werking ongehinderd kon doorgaan en de oorspronkelijke investering maximaal benut werd.
Het project omvatte de installatie van 7 Hochiki Latitude-panelen, die naadloos geïntegreerd werden met het GEMOS Physical Security Management System. Deze integratie biedt een gedetailleerd grafisch overzicht van de sites en maakt snelle reacties op gedetecteerde incidenten mogelijk.
